Alisha designed this kitchen for a client with a strong sense of her own style, someone who knew she wanted a Falcon range cooker before she even walked through our door, and who wanted a kitchen that felt genuinely bespoke rather than off-the-shelf. The result is a compact U-shape that punches well above its size: a farmhouse heart with German precision behind it, finished in matt lacquer agate grey with a Caesarstone White Attica worktop and a peninsular that turns the end of the kitchen into a casual seating area for everyday life.

The Falcon 1000 De Luxe in Fawn Nickel anchors the range wall, made to order in Italy with a three-month lead time, and it is the kind of appliance that defines a kitchen. Stainless steel coloured handles run throughout the lower cabinetry, while the wall units take a deliberate step in a different direction: fluted, plank-panelled doors in a lighter painted white that bring warmth and texture to the upper half of the room and reinforce the farmhouse character without losing the clean lines of the Pronorm cabinetry below. The peninsular overhang carries the same fluted panelling on its face, so the detail wraps the room from wall unit to seating area. A Westin PRIME Slim 1000 extractor is built into the cabinetry above the range, scripted around a structural ceiling beam that runs through the centre of the room.

Every constraint in this kitchen became a design decision. The ceiling beam is concealed within the cabinetry run. Both corners are fitted with Lemans carousel units so nothing is lost to dead space. The fully integrated Siemens iQ500 fridge freezer at 75 centimetres wide delivers the storage capacity of two separate units in a kitchen that could not have accommodated them, panelled seamlessly into the agate grey run. The Blanco Etagon sink in soft white sits flush beneath a continuous Caesarstone surface, and the peninsular creates a breakfast bar where the kitchen opens into the living space, a room that works hard every day and still looks considered doing it.
